4 Travel Beauty Tips for Your Next Vacay

4 Travel Beauty Tips for Your Next Vacay

Going somewhere this winter? Lucky you! We just came back to a chilly NYC from an 8-day cruise to Orlando and the Bahamas and I'm already shivering in my snuggie! While there’s nothing quite like a warm beach vacation to unwind and relax, traveling does come with some necessary preparations. How will everything fit into one suitcase? Then there are the dehydrating effects of air travel to consider. Finally, there’s the issue of wearing a swimsuit and revealing skin that doesn’t usually see the light of day this time of year! But don’t worry, I have the solutions to these travel beauty issues.

Keep reading for my best travel beauty tips!

1. Shrink Your Routine

If you’re anything like me, you know exactly what products you love and you have a pretty solid beauty routine in place that keeps your skin, hair, and nails looking great. The only problem is, it doesn’t fit in a suitcase!

The trick? Reusable travel containers! Decanting your favorite products into reusable travel-size bottles makes packing so much easier. You can purchase reusable travel containers online, or use any empty sample bottles that you have on hand. One of my favorite purchases lately has been stackable pots. I've found them to be the most useful in terms of getting all of my beauty preparations in one condensed, easy-to-use place.

If you wear contacts, try using a clean contact case to store liquid makeup. I can fit a week’s worth of foundation into just one side of a contact case! This way you can bring all your favorites with you (and still have room for clothes in your suitcase).

2. Moisturize In-Flight

Airplane cabins have extremely dry air – somewhere around 20% humidity. This dry air zaps the moisture right out of your skin, which can make fine lines and wrinkles more pronounced. And if you’re prone to acne, the dryness can actually make your skin produce more oil, which can lead to breakouts. That’s the last thing you want when you’re gearing up for vacation selfies!

Keep a small container of moisturizer in your personal carry-on so that you can hydrate in-flight. My pick? The 2.0 oz TSA-friendly RAPID REPAIR Facial Moisturizer. This rich blend of soothing, natural ingredients like Azulene, Chamomile Extract, and Collagen is supercharged with intense hydration that will restore the moisture balance to your complexion without leaving an oily residue. This rich treatment cream will leave your skin looking smooth and refreshed when you arrive at your destination and is specially formulated for even the most sensitive skin!

A lot of people ask if you should wear makeup on a plane. Obviously, wearing a full face of makeup will prevent you from applying moisturizer mid-flight. That’s why I advise skipping the makeup and letting your skin breathe. But if you don’t want to go bare-faced, you can also use a hydrating mist for a boost of moisture.

Other ways to keep your skin hydrated on the plane is to drink plenty of water and limit your alcohol intake in-flight (even when it’s free!).

3. Tighten Up!

If worries about bumpy skin or stretch marks have you concerned about sporting a swimsuit on vacation, I have the perfect solution: Our LIPO CONQUER Body Toning Cream. Not to be mistaken for something that melts away fat (if you find something that does, please let us know), this firming cream is an easy way to tone up if you’re feeling a bit self-conscious about your thighs, arms, or stomach area.

Using a combination of Ginkgo Biloba, Caffeine, and Vitamins A and E, this amazing cream actually boosts skin’s natural elasticity for a visibly smoother and firmer appearance.

I like to use twice per day in the weeks leading up to a trip to reduce the look of cellulite, sagging skin, and stretch marks. You’ll be ready to show some skin once you reach your destination!

4. Get Feet Sandal Ready!

Is anybody else guilty of skipping regular pedicures in the winter? If avoiding the nail salon has left your feet with rough skin and calluses, try RUNWAY READY Luxury Foot Treatment. This silky cream simultaneously exfoliates and moisturizes feet to get them ready for sandals. Your skin will look and feel softer after just one application. Plus it comes in a small 1.7 oz purse-size tube, which is well within TSA’s limits for carry-on bags.
