How To Be More Confident: 6 Simple Confidence Boosting Techniques

How To Be More Confident: 6 Simple Confidence Boosting Techniques

What’s holding you back from achieving your goals and following your dreams? I’ll give you a hint (and it may surprise you): it’s not a lack of funds or time, but for most of us women, the answer is simply a lack of confidence.

So, what exactly is confidence? Simply put, having confidence requires just two things:

  1. Trusting that you have the skills to succeed
  2. Believing that you deserve to succeed

Confession: There are definitely days where it can be challenging to balance all that life throws at you. Even though I have a great husband, children I adore, and business I love, these challenges leave me to not feel 100% great about myself all the time.

But here’s the good news: YOU have the power to build up your own confidence! It turns out confidence doesn’t come from outside success or the affirmations of other people – it comes from within. Like a muscle, your confidence can grow stronger and stronger if you take the time to really build it.

Keep reading to learn about some of my best practices, which can easily help you to start building your confidence today!

My 6 Favorite Confidence Boosters

Believe me, building confidence is not an overnight thing, but with daily practice, you can boost it. While there are many ways to build confidence, here are some of my best practices:

1. Get Dressed Up

Ever heard of ‘look good, feel good’? Well, it’s certainly a real thing. I’ve always found that styling my hair, putting on some makeup, and wearing that nice new dress can really help boost my confidence for the day. Even if I don’t feel amazing, acting as if I have it all together makes me feel like I do!

2. Stop Negative Self-Talk

You know that voice in your head that’s always telling you that you’re not good enough? Tell it to be quiet!

Easier said than done right? To help me with this, I visualize myself as a child (just hear me out on this one). When I start with the negative self-talk, I think, “Would I say this to a child?” If not, then I shouldn’t say it to myself as an adult either.

I know that it may sound a little strange, but this has really helped me to be more gentle with myself and curtail the negative self-talk!

3. Start a Journal

Journaling is another great confidence booster. You know that quaint, peaceful moment before your kids wake up in morning? I like to take that time to write in my journal. I write down three things I am grateful for, which sets a positive tone for my day. We spend so much time worrying about what we lack, so this practice helps me to appreciate all of the things that I do have.

4. Stand Up Straight!

This tip may sound too easy to be true, but it really works!

When you don’t feel very confident, you tend to have bad posture. Conversely, confident people tend to stand up straighter.

But did you know that you can actually change how you feel about yourself just by changing your posture? This philosophy, called embodied cognition, suggests that we use our body to influence our mind in the same way that our mind inspires our body.

Something my mother always used to say, “Fake it, until you make it!”

5. Face Your Fears Head On

Do the things that scare you! Not only will you crush your fears, but you will also learn that you can handle anything. Easier said, than done right? Hear me out - I used to have a huge fear of public speaking. Instead of shying away from public speaking engagements, I took a class on giving speeches to build my skills in this area of my life. I never thought that I’d be able to do it, but by setting my goals high, and working to achieve them, I not only conquered my fear, but gained a new perspective of what I was capable of.

The confidence I built from that experience is something I carry into all other aspects of my life. I’ve learned that in the end, it’s all about perspective! Like Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” By going outside of my comfort zone, I’ve proved to myself that I am more capable than I even realize.

6. Look for Solutions

Next time you find yourself thinking negatively about any aspect of your life, ask yourself, “How can I fix this?” For example, a few years ago, I started to notice more wrinkles and fine lines on my face. Instead of feeling bad about my appearance, I decided to take action!

I used this concern as inspiration to create two of our most popular wrinkle-fighting products, our Empower Anti-Wrinkle Treatment and Confidence Crease Concentrate.

Empower Anti-Wrinkle Treatment deeply nourishes skin with six active multi-peptides to diminish fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike most intensive wrinkle treatments on the market, this one works well on even the most sensitive skin. I also love our Confidence Crease Concentrate because it’s the perfect primer to smooth skin, and diminish the appearance of fine lines and creases before applying your makeup. I’m telling you: it will COMPLETELY change the way your makeup lays on your skin. It’s truly magical!

So, instead of feeling bad about myself, I found a personal solution and turned it into a solution for others. For me, that’s truly the best confidence booster - helping others exude their inner confidence so they can show their outer beauty.
